This book is about the efforts of an international group of experts, to promote MILU in cities and regions. MILU aims to contribute to sustainable development through improving the social ecology of places while minimising their ecological footprints. In the first part is explained, which principles were used by the group of experts: theoretical principles as wel as principles on how to work together in so called Implementation Labs.
The second part is about MILU practices in the USA and Latin America, in Asia and Africa. The Third part is on projects and describes 21 mostly European cases as they were elaborated in the Implementation Labs. In the fourth and final part the reader will find academic reflections on the results of the network and policy recommendations for Europe.
